The United Nations Major Group for Children & Youth (UNMGCY)
The MGCY received its primary mandates directly from several UN general assembly resolutions. These include Agenda 21, GA Resolution 67/290 on the HLPF, and the 2030 Agenda. It also has bilateral agreements and/or terms of reference with specific entities in the UN system.
Global Focal Point - Resilience & Humanitarian Action: DRR Working Group
Tasks:
Act as the primary liaison between the UN MGCY, UN entities and the relevant stakeholders to facilitate youth engagement in UN-related processes.
Develop, and execute a work plan for the Working Group in line with its guidelines- Sendai Framework for DRR Working Group
Facilitate the preparation of formal inputs (statements, papers, reports, etc) related to respective process and engagement avenues in coordination with the working group, the wider MGCY, and where appropriate, with other stakeholders, as per the process and procedures document.
Inform the UN MGCY regularly of upcoming opportunities, developments, and progress of work, as well as report back on organised events and actions through the official mailing list and the official social media platforms.
